‘The most dangerous place to be in Canada’ – Calgary police officer

An officer who was involved in a controversial undercover operation in which he and three other Calgary officers were filmed performing oral sex on a handcuffed and naked victim has been placed on administrative leave.

The Calgary Police Service says Const.

Matthew Deutsch was placed on leave Tuesday following the police investigation into the alleged incident, which occurred at a Calgary apartment complex in January.

Police are not commenting on the investigation.

Deutsch is currently in his second year with the Calgary Police.

“The investigation was conducted in good faith and based on the facts at the time,” said Sgt. Mike Montanaro.

“The investigation determined that the officers involved were in good moral standing, that they acted in good conscience and that the conduct was consistent with their training.”

A spokesperson for the Calgary police says the investigation into what happened at the apartment complex was conducted independently and the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators have interviewed Deutsch and three others who were in the apartment at the same time.

Deutsch has been on leave since the investigation began in January, and has been reassigned to the downtown detachment.

He is expected to return to the service on April 1.

Calgary police released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying the officer was placed in administrative leave following the investigation and that he will remain on leave pending the outcome of the case.
